Sangli weighbridges for turmeric yards, cane gates and foundries.
Sangli, on the Krishna river in western Maharashtra, is the turmeric city: the Sangli APMC yard is one of the country's largest markets for haldi (halad), and its jaggery (gul) market runs through the winter. Tasgaon and the grape belt around it make the district one of India's main raisin (bedana) centres, cooperative and private sugar factories across Walwa, Shirala, Palus, Tasgaon, Miraj, Kadegaon and Khanapur crush cane from November to April, and the MIDC estates at Kupwad, Miraj, Vita and Islampur hold foundries, engineering, food-processing and textile units, with Vita's powerlooms and the engineering works at Kirloskarwadi. Symphony supplies weighbridges, truck scales and dharam kanta (धर्म कांटा / tol kanta) across Sangli district.
A Sangli turmeric or jaggery trader usually needs a 40–60 MT, 12–16 m pit-less steel weighbridge stamped for trade; a raisin or grape pack house 30–40 MT on 9–12 m; a sugar factory cane yard 80–100 MT on 18 m in RCC or pit-less steel with the unmanned option; a foundry or engineering unit at Kupwad MIDC 60–80 MT on 18 m; a public weighbridge 60–100 MT on 16–18 m (dharam kanta). Symphony builds it in Ahmedabad and dispatches it about 2 weeks after a commercially cleared order with PO.
Haldi by the lot, cane by the trolley train, castings by the trailer: one stamped record for each.
- Haldi by the lot, in and outParty, lot and vehicle on every SMFW slip, season after season.
- Trolley trains at the cane gate80–100 MT on 18 m, unmanned night shift.

Turmeric commission agents and cold stores
A haldi lot is weighed when it is bought in the yard, again when it goes into the cold store, and again when the buyer takes it out months later, and the three weights have to tally. The same lot may be weighed in Sangli in February and out in September; the slip number ties the two.
Our setup: A 40–60 MT, 12–16 m pit-less steel weighbridge, stamped, with SMFW records that keep the lot number, party and vehicle on every slip and a stored-lot report for the cold store.
Sugar factories and distilleries
Through the crushing season the cane yard pays every grower on net weight and sends bagasse, molasses and press mud out the other way; a slow gate leaves cane drying in the queue.
Our setup: An 80–100 MT, 18 m concrete (RCC) or pit-less steel weighbridge with the unmanned option (RFID, cameras, boom barrier) and the grower codes and tractor tares in SMFW; busy yards take two, one in and one out.
Foundries and engineering units at Kupwad MIDC
Pig iron, scrap and foundry sand come in by the truckload, castings go out on trailers against weight on the invoice, and the melt-shop account depends on both.
Our setup: A 60–80 MT, 18 m pit-less steel weighbridge, stamped, with SMFW reports by party and material and stored tares for the regular trailers.

Krishna black soil, the turmeric season and the cane queue: sizing a Sangli weighbridge.
Sangli's turmeric trade sets the pattern for its weighbridges. From January the boiled and dried haldi comes to the Sangli APMC yard in gunny bags on trucks and tractor-trolleys, from the district's own fields and from other states, is sold by the lot in auction, then goes to the polishing units and cold stores and out again by the truckload for months afterwards, so a commission agent or a cold store needs a 40–60 MT, 12–16 m pit-less steel platform stamped for trade and an SMFW record that keeps the lot, the party and the vehicle on every slip, because the same lot may be weighed in, stored, and weighed out a season later. The jaggery that the gurhals along the Krishna and Warna make from November to March reaches the same yard in trolleys and is weighed the same way. Raisins are lighter and faster: the grape harvest from January to April goes onto the drying racks, and the bedana comes to the Tasgaon and Sangli markets in tempos and small trucks from March, so a pack house or raisin trader is well served by a 30–40 MT, 9–12 m weighbridge that weighs quickly and costs less than a truck-size platform. The sugar factories run the heaviest traffic: through the crushing season tractors with two loaded trolleys and 10-wheel trucks queue at the cane yard, each grower is paid on the net weight of each load, and bagasse, molasses and press mud go out the other way, so a cane yard takes 80–100 MT on 18 m, in concrete (RCC) or pit-less steel, with the unmanned option (RFID, cameras, boom barrier) so the night shift runs without a clerk and SMFW keeps the grower codes and tractor tares. Kupwad MIDC's foundries receive pig iron, scrap and foundry sand by the truckload and send castings out on trailers against weight on the invoice, so a 60–80 MT, 18 m platform with SMFW reports by party and material fits the gate. The soil along the Krishna and Warna is deep black cotton soil that swells in the monsoon, so pedestals are taken down to firm murum and the approaches are built up; in the drier eastern talukas of Jat, Atpadi and Kavathe-Mahankal the murum is closer to the surface and the base is simpler. April and May are hot and the Krishna valley is humid in the monsoon, so the cabin is shaded, the junction box sealed and the cables run in closed conduit; calibration with test weights is done before the first lot is weighed. Book stamping and re-verification before the crushing season opens in November and before the turmeric arrivals in January.
