Tharad weighbridges for castor, cumin and canal-belt farms.
Tharad is the headquarters of the new Vav-Tharad district in north Gujarat, formed from part of Banaskantha. Its APMC trades castor, cumin, mustard, isabgol and other crops from farms that the Narmada canal network has opened to irrigation, pomegranate orchards have spread across the area, and building work in the growing town keeps sand, aggregate and cement trucks moving. Symphony supplies weighbridges, truck scales and dharam kanta (धर्म कांटा) across Tharad, Vav, Suigam and Bhabhar talukas.
A castor or cumin trader at Tharad APMC usually needs a 40–60 MT, 16 m pit-less weighbridge (dharam kanta) that takes a tractor with its trolley or a loaded truck in one weighing; a pomegranate trader 30–40 MT on 12 m; a sand, aggregate or RMC supplier 60–80 MT on 16 m in concrete (RCC). Symphony builds it in Ahmedabad and dispatches it about 2 weeks after a cleared order with PO.
Drifting sand in the gaps means drifting readings.
- Gaps kept clear of sandRaised pedestals and open gaps that can be swept, so drifting sand cannot carry the load.
- Ready before the peak arrivalsService and re-verification planned before castor, cumin and mustard reach the APMC.
- Shade for the cabinIndicator and printer out of direct sun; IP67/IP68 load cells in a sealed system.

Castor and cumin traders
Arrivals peak from late winter into spring, and each farmer is paid on the slip.
Our setup: A 40–60 MT, 16 m pit-less weighbridge with stored tares and totals by party in SMFW.
Fruit traders and packhouses
Pomegranates move in crates on pickups and small trucks, and the net weight sets the price.
Our setup: A 30–40 MT, 12 m weighbridge, pit-less or modular on a concrete yard.
Sand and RMC suppliers
Heavy tippers and transit mixers bring grit onto the platform every trip.
Our setup: A 60–80 MT, 16 m concrete (RCC) weighbridge on raised pedestals, so wind-blown sand and grit are easy to sweep out.

Desert sand and summer heat: keep the gaps clear, shade the cabin.
Tharad lies in the dry, sandy north-west of Gujarat, towards the Rann, and wind-blown sand is the first thing a weighbridge here has to handle. Sand drifts into the gap between the platform and the foundation, and once it packs tight it carries part of the load, so the reading drifts; keep the gaps open, sweep them on a schedule, and prefer a pit-less design with raised pedestals where the sand is easy to clear. Sandy soil also calls for a proper soil check before the foundation is designed. Arrivals at the APMC peak from late winter into spring, when castor pickings and the rabi cumin and mustard reach the market, so have the weighbridge serviced and re-verified before the season and give regular tractors stored tares to keep the queue short. Summer heat is severe: shade the operator cabin and keep the indicator and printer out of direct sun, and use IP67/IP68 load cells with a sealed junction box for the dust and the monsoon rain. Sand, aggregate and RMC trucks are heavy and abrasive, and a 60–80 MT concrete (RCC) weighbridge, with a 25-year structural warranty on the RCC (T&C), takes that work. SMFW prints the vehicle number, party, gross, tare and net on every slip, and Symphony gives stamping support for Legal Metrology verification.
