Two trolleys, one weighing: size the deck for the cane season.
In a cane yard the weighbridge is the cash register of the season: the farmer is paid on the weight of cane delivered, so every load is weighed full on arrival and weighed again empty, and the slip is checked line by line. Much of the cane comes on tractors pulling two trolleys, and the whole outfit has to sit on the deck at once, which is why an 18 m deck matters more here than extra tonnes. In the crushing season the yard runs day and night, so plan calibration and the Legal Metrology re-verification before the season opens, and keep a spare indicator and printer ready. Mud and cane trash collect around the deck, so a pit-less deck with a clear gap all round, or a concrete (RCC) deck that is easy to wash, keeps the reading honest. Dairy plants wash their yards daily, so drain the water away from the load cells and use sealed IP67/IP68 cells.
