Gondia weighbridges for rice mills, APMCs and the Tiroda ash and coal traffic.
Gondia, the rail junction at the eastern edge of Maharashtra where the Howrah–Mumbai main line meets the Jabalpur and Ballarshah lines, is the rice city of Vidarbha. Paddy from the tank-fed fields of Gondia, Tirora, Goregaon, Amgaon, Arjuni Morgaon and Sadak Arjuni goes to some two hundred and fifty rice mills and parboiling units in and around the city; the APMC yards and sub-yards at Gondia, Tirora, Amgaon, Goregaon, Arjuni Morgaon, Sadak Arjuni, Deori and Salekasa trade paddy, tur, gram, wheat and linseed; MIDC Gondia holds rice, engineering and cold-storage units, and MIDC Tiroda a thermal power station with the fly-ash brick plants that have grown around it; tendu leaf, bamboo and teak leave the forest depots of Deori, Salekasa and Arjuni Morgaon by the truck; stone crushers in the eastern hills feed the highway and railway works; and the goods sheds of the junction load rice for other states. Symphony supplies weighbridges, truck scales and dharam kanta (धर्म कांटा / tol kanta) across Gondia district.
A rice mill in Gondia, Tirora or Goregaon takes a 60 MT, 16 m pit-less steel weighbridge, stamped for trade, long enough for a tractor with two paddy trolleys, with SMFW paddy-in and rice, bran and husk-out reports by lot; an APMC commission agent 40–60 MT on 12–16 m; a fly-ash transporter, a coal contractor or a brick plant around MIDC Tiroda 80–100 MT on 18 m in pit-less steel or concrete (RCC) with the unmanned option (RFID, cameras, boom barrier); a stone crusher at Deori or Salekasa 60–80 MT on 16–18 m in RCC; a unit in MIDC Gondia 60 MT on 16 m; a public weighbridge on the Nagpur or Balaghat road 60–100 MT on 16–18 m (dharam kanta). Symphony builds it in Ahmedabad and dispatches it about 2 weeks after a commercially cleared order with PO.
Two paddy seasons and three shifts at the brick plants: the reasons Gondia's millers choose a Symphony weighbridge.
- Two paddy seasons, paddy in by the tractor with two trolleys, rice out by the rake and the truck16 m and 60 MT, paddy-in and rice-out as separate SMFW reports, stored tares for the mill's own tractors.
- Fly ash by the bulker and coal by the trailer at Tiroda, stone by the tipper at Deori80–100 MT on 18 m in RCC or pit-less steel, sealed load cells, an unmanned gate where the yard runs three shifts.
- Black clay on the Tirora plain, red gravel in the eastern hills, a monsoon that fills every pitPedestals below the moving clay or on the gravel; a raised pit-less platform with drained approaches, or a pit with a sump.

Rice mills, APMC traders, brick plants and forest depots across Gondia district.
Rice mills and parboiling units
Gondia's mills take paddy in two seasons, the kharif crop from October and the summer crop from the irrigated belt around April and May, by the tractor with two trolleys and by the 10-wheel truck, and send rice out by the truck and the rake from the junction, so the yield of every lot is the mill's margin.
Our setup: A 60 MT, 16 m pit-less steel weighbridge, stamped, long enough for the tractor and both trolleys, with SMFW paddy-in and rice, bran and husk-out reports by lot, stored tares for the mill's own tractors and the steamed lot reconciled against the dry at a parboiling unit.
Fly-ash, coal and brick traffic at Tiroda
The power station's ash leaves by the bulker for the brick plants and the grinding units, coal comes in by the trailer, bricks go out by the 10-wheeler, and the fine ash gets into every cable gland and junction box on a yard that runs three shifts.
Our setup: An 80–100 MT, 18 m weighbridge in pit-less steel or RCC with IP67/IP68 sealed load cells, a junction box potted on site, SMFW reports by party, material and vehicle and the unmanned option (RFID, cameras, boom barrier) for the gate.
APMC traders and forest-produce depots
A commission agent at Amgaon, Arjuni Morgaon or Sadak Arjuni weighs trolleys of paddy, tur and gram against the farmer's slip, and the tendu-leaf, bamboo and teak depots of Deori and Salekasa weigh by the truck in a short season, with each load paid out on the day it is weighed.
Our setup: A stamped 40–60 MT pit-less steel platform of 12–16 m; SMFW prints the farmer's slip with lot and commodity and remembers the tare of every regular tractor, and the pedestals go below the moving clay on the plain or sit on the gravel in the eastern hills.

Tank-fed black clay, the red gravel of Deori and a wet August: what a Gondia weighbridge foundation must allow for.
Gondia weighs paddy twice a year, and that shapes the weighbridge more than anything else. The kharif crop comes off the tank-fed fields from October to December and arrives at the mills by the tractor with two trolleys behind it and by the 10-wheel truck from the APMC yards; in the belt that the old Malguzari tanks and the canals keep wet, a second, summer crop comes in around April and May, so the mill yard never has an idle season for long. A rice mill therefore wants 16 m, enough for the tractor and both trolleys to stand clear of the ramps, and 60 MT, with SMFW splitting the traffic into paddy-in and rice, bran and husk-out reports by lot and keeping stored tares for the mill's own tractors, because the mill earns on the yield between the two weights and a parboiling unit also reconciles the steamed lot against the dry; the sortex mills that load at the goods shed use the same reports to make up a rake. Beside the rice there is Tiroda. The thermal power station at MIDC Tiroda brings coal in by the rake and the trailer and sends fly ash out by the bulker to the brick plants that have grown around it and to the cement grinding and road works farther off, and fly ash by the bulker, coal by the multi-axle trailer and bricks by the 10-wheeler on the same platform call for 80–100 MT on 18 m in pit-less steel or concrete (RCC), sealed IP67/IP68 load cells against the ash, and the unmanned option (RFID, cameras, boom barrier) where a transporter's yard or a brick plant runs three shifts; the power station weighs on its own instruments, and Symphony's place is the transporters, the brick plants and the contractors around it. The ground changes from west to east. On the Tirora and Goregaon plain the soil is black cotton clay that swells in the monsoon and cracks in May, so the pedestals go below the moving layer onto the firm stratum and the approaches are drained; in the eastern hills of Deori, Salekasa and Amgaon the ground is red gravel and laterite over rock, which takes shallow pedestals but runs with mud on the crusher roads in August. The monsoon here is heavy, a wet August puts the Wainganga and the Bagh over their banks, and May brings forty-five degrees, so the apron is drained, the junction box is potted and the cable runs in closed conduit as standard, and most buyers choose a raised pit-less platform rather than a pit, which fills in July unless a sump and a pump-out are built in. The stone crushers of Deori, Salekasa and Amgaon load tippers wet and heavy in the rains and take 60–80 MT on 16–18 m with an RCC top that stands the grit and the sweeping; the tendu-leaf, bamboo and teak depots of the forest divisions weigh by the truck in their season; the engineering and cold-storage units of MIDC Gondia take 60 MT on 16 m for trucks and 20-foot containers; and a public weighbridge on the Nagpur, Balaghat or Raipur road takes 60–100 MT on 16–18 m for everything from a trolley to a 40-foot trailer. The Nagzira and Navegaon forests are a tiger reserve and no weighbridge work is proposed inside them; the mills, the markets and the estates all lie outside. Verification comes last: once the platform is installed it is calibrated with test weights and presented to Legal Metrology with Symphony's stamping support, and a Gondia mill does well to have that done in September, so the stamp is on the platform before the first kharif trolleys turn up in October.
