Plots in the RIICO estates are level and fenced, and the gate area is often tight, so a pit-type weighbridge flush with the road suits an existing gate where trailers must turn, while a pit-less weighbridge on pedestals is quicker to build on a new plot; a concrete apron on both approaches keeps the turning trailer off the kerb. The ground is mostly sandy loam, firm when compacted, so the pedestals and the apron go on a well-compacted base to our drawing. Summers pass 45 °C with dust storms in May and June, so shade the cabin, run the cables in closed conduits away from the hot plate and keep the junction box sealed.
