Weighbridge installation, step by step.
How a weighbridge is installed: site survey, foundation drawing, civil construction, curing, deck placement, load cells, electronics, calibration and stamping.
Weighbridge installation runs in eight steps: site survey, foundation drawing, civil construction by the client’s contractor, curing and level check, deck placement, electronics, calibration and Legal Metrology stamping. Symphony dispatches the deck about 2 weeks from a cleared order; modular decks install within hours.
A weighbridge installation is mostly civil work followed by a short mechanical and electrical job. Here is the sequence we follow with every client.
The steps
| Step | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Site survey | Space, approach, ground, drainage, power and the weigh cabin position | Symphony with the client |
| 2. Foundation drawing | Layout, sections, pedestal levels and anchor positions for your size | Symphony |
| 3. Civil construction | Excavation, rebar, concrete pedestals or pit, ramps, drains, earthing, cable ducts | Client’s contractor, to our drawing |
| 4. Curing and level check | Concrete cures; pedestal levels are checked before the deck arrives | Contractor; Symphony check on request |
| 5. Deck placement | Deck delivered and placed on the load cells | Symphony |
| 6. Electronics | Junction box, indicator, printer, CVT and SMFW Weighment Software | Symphony |
| 7. Calibration | Corner and span calibration with test weights | Symphony |
| 8. Stamping | Legal Metrology verification before trade use | Owner applies; Symphony supports |
How long does it take?
Deck dispatch is about 2 weeks from a commercially cleared order with your purchase order. Placing the deck and fitting the electronics take far less time than the civil work; the concrete must cure before the deck goes on, and your civil engineer sets the curing time. A modular weighbridge needs no foundation and installs within hours on a hard, level surface.
Construction details that matter most
- Level pedestalsEvery load cell must carry its share; follow the levels on the drawing.
- DrainageEspecially for pit and semi-pit layouts.
- Earthing and surge protectionProtects the load cells and indicator from lightning.
- Straight approachTrucks should drive on straight, not turn on the deck.
The foundation guide lists the concrete grade, rebar and the common mistakes.
After installation
Every weighbridge carries a 1-year warranty (RCC platforms also a 25-year structural warranty). An AMC keeps calibration and the yearly re-verification on schedule.
